CenterLink offers an alternative to a traditional in-person conference. We know that travel, time away from your family and home, and access to funding are factors in choosing where you go for the most up-to-date and relevant information opportunities. The CenterLink E-Summit presents outstanding topics of interest to anyone interested in working toward the goal of developing strong, sustainable LGBTQ community centers. Multiple sessions of evidence-based, practical, and tried and true information and content are presented in a webinar format. Choose your area of interest by track or attend all our sessions.

Health Consequences of Weight-Based Victimization among Sexual and Gender Minority Youth

Weight-based victimization (WBV) involves being the target of intentional physical, verbal, or psychological harm because of one’s body weight. This webinar will discuss rates of WBV and associated health consequences among sexual and gender minority youth. Implications for programming around these issues will be discussed.

Building Capacity to be More Client-Centered and Trauma-Informed

To be trauma informed we need to ask, “What happened to you?” and not “What’s wrong with you?” In 2018 with the support of CenterLink – Johnson Family Foundation Mental Health Initiative funding Rainbow Resource Center engaged in a capacity building project to increase our harm reduction capacity, be better trauma informed, and more client centered. We worked with consultants to review our current policies and procedures and to train the entire staff team on drug use, supporting people who use drugs, understanding trauma, and how we are impacted by vicarious trauma. Through the training we had a hard look at how we welcome and support people who use drugs or who present at our centre under the influence of drugs. This webinar will allow participant to understand the assessment and training process we undertook, the processes we are using to maintain to sustain the capacity built, and resources you can use in training staff and volunteers.

Center-ing the Link to Ending the HIV Epidemic

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has proposed the Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America (EHE) initiative to end the HIV epidemic in the United States within 10 years. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will work closely with other HHS agencies, local and state governments, communities, and people with HIV to coordinate efforts to expand implementation of key HIV prevention strategies. Join us for an informational webinar with CDC representatives to hear updates on the EHE initiative, identify ways your center can get involved, and learn about free CDC HIV communication resources.
